about
Your life is only worth something because you only have one! Infinite Lives, the latest single from art-pop shapeshifters Elvett, is a celebration of life in the face of oblivion. Memento Mori! Remember death, but don’t forget to light up with that effortless smile, while you’re at it.
The song was written for Alain’s father, who left this planet at the end 2019. The idea was to pen something which is full of love and color, and will allow for a graceful, mindful departure. The song was created in collaboration with producer Christophe Calpini (Erik Truffaz, Alain Bashung etc.). Kaleidoscopic swirling radiance. Rolling waves of warmth breaking open with synth-generated incandescence and wild torrents of groove. A belly type of warmth. A timeless pop jam making a b-line between an 80s rendering of a Prince sonic after-future and things to come.
lyrics
Lyrics:
What you have
That cannot be healed
Won’t you be with me
Nothing we can do
The time has come
Too heavy to go on
You did what you had to
So don’t say goodbye
Fly out beyond the seas
In the meanwhile
Say hello from there please
Common and look at me
Only look at me
Close your eyes and
Go
If we had infinite lives
What would you do
Would you love me, would you care for me
What would matter to you
If we had infinite lives
What would you feel
Would you play or would you leave the game
What would matter for real
Oh we want you to be free
Don’t you never dream to be free
Free from pain
Free from disease
Won’t you do it
But you say, you’re gonna be fine, we gonna be fine
I’m ready
If we had infinite lives
What would you do
Would you love me, would you care for me
What would matter to you
If we had infinite lives
What would you feel
Would you play or would you leave the game
What would matter for real
